Kodiak Hub

Overview

Kodiak Hub — UI/UX Design Internship (B2B SaaS SRM Platform)
On-site 06.2025 – 09.2025

  • 1) Background

Kodiak Hub is a B2B SaaS platform for Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). During a brand refresh and fast product iteration, the team needed more consistency, better core flows, and a scalable way to validate usability before shipping.

    2) Problem

    • UI inconsistency across modules after brand refresh, reducing trust and increasing design/dev rework.

    • Friction in critical journeys (login + password reset; document workflows; BOM management) impacting success rates and support load.

    • No lightweight, repeatable usability testing process before QA.

    3) Goal

Improve core user efficiency and reliability by:

    • Standardizing UI patterns/components,

    • Redesigning key workflows end-to-end,

    • Embedding usability testing into the delivery process.

    4) My Role

UI/UX Design Intern (cross-functional with Product, Engineering, CS, QA):

    • Design system and component work (audit, patterns, reusable components).

    • Feature UX/UI design (flows, IA, high-fidelity UI, responsive design).

    • Usability testing (plan, run, synthesize, iterate).

    • Internal research + enablement (AI tools evaluation and workflow proposal).

    5) Key Work

    • Design system improvements: reusable components + usage rules to reduce inconsistency.

    • Login & authentication redesign: clarified flow, improved responsiveness, strengthened feedback and validation.

    • Document management UX: improved discoverability, terminology, navigation logic, and AI-related interactions.

    • BOM (Bill of Materials) UX: designed structured composition management and supplier request experience.

    6) Process

    • Audited existing UI across major modules and documented patterns (rules, not just screens).

    • Benchmarked comparable B2B/SaaS flows and translated findings into platform-consistent solutions.

    • Ran usability tests with internal CS/QA (think-aloud + task scenarios), then converted findings into clear design updates.

    • Coordinated decisions with POs/engineering to remove ambiguity before handoff.

    7) Outcomes

    • Component reuse improved from 32% to 78%.

    • Login success rate improved from 81% to 96%; forgot-password completion +34%; related support tickets -68%.

    • For key workflows, user operation efficiency improved by 67%; customer satisfaction improved from 3.6/5 to 4.4/5.

    • Established a repeatable design testing workflow that improved early issue detection before release.
